British University Vietnam – a good story
At a reception last week titled "Higher Education: A UK Vietnam success story - celebrating the British University Vietnam,” hosted by the British embassy, Graeme Davies, president of BUV and former president of the University of London (UK), said that BUV and its faculty of international teachers and lecturers are committed to ensure that the quality of the educational experience and the quality of degrees offered in Vietnam matches that of Britain.
Four years after its establishment, BUV was licensed to provide programmes from prestigious British universities, including the Bachelor of Arts in International Business Management and Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Management (from Staffordshire University), and the Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance (from the University of London).
The first campus of BUV was planned to be built in Ecopark near Hanoi with the first phase opening in 2014.
The new campus aims to enroll about 1,000 students in three or four years after construction is finished. With the cost estimated at $20 million, BUV is expected to eventually accommodate around 10,000 students. Its sister university in Ho Chi Minh City was planned to be built with a goal of training 1,000 students after that.
During the reception, the four most outstanding students from BUV were awarded HRH Prince Andrew scholarships, valued at up to VND600 million ($28,500) each which will provide Vietnamese students with the opportunity to develop leadership and academic experience through further study in British universities.
