Hanoi forced to amend plans on another city project

The Tuan Chau Ha Tay eco-tourism complex is located in Sai Son Commune, Quoc Oai District and currently consists of mainly agricultural land and some village land in Da Phuc, Thuy Khue, Phuc Duc Hamlets, Sai Son Commune. The project includes an 18-hole golf course covering 93 hectares, recreational and entertainment centres, hotels, villas and a transportation system.

Old Ha Tay Province People’s Committee permitted Tuan Chau Ha Tay eco-tourism to use the 1,986,378.7 square lot on July 21, 2008 with a lease period of 50 years (to March 3, 2057).

According to a report handed over to the Hanoi Government Office on March 30, Tuan Chau Ha Tay Joint Stock Company (JSC) had begun its site clearance, but the golf course construction plan, which was going to be built on the agriculture land of the province, was cancelled due to protests from locals and a possibility that it might affect some other major construction plans of Hanoi.

Subsequently, Tuan Chau Ha Tay JSC had put forward a proposal to block construction of the golf course but continue deploying and adjusting the project according to Hanoi’s expansion plans and general regulations. The proposal was approved by the Hanoi People’s Committee and is now waiting for the Prime Minister’s approval.
