Hanoi’s investment overview in 2008
The city attracted a significant amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) capital. Particularly, in 2008, 300 FDI projects with a total registered investment capital of USD 5 billion were licensed and increasing investment capital, nearly two-fold against 2007. Of which, 270 new projects were licensed with a total investment capital of USD4.4 billion and 30 existing projects were raised investment capital by USD 600 million. The disbursed FDI capital was estimated at USD 600 million, up 10% year - on - year.
Some big FDI projects were licensed in 2008 including GTEL Mobile Co with a USD1.8 billion project, Hanoi Bio-Technology Zone Infrastructure Construction Investment Co (USD250 million), Hoa Sen (Lotus) five star Hotel Co (USD 250 million) and Dongriwon Co (USD 219 million).
Last year, the city granted business certificates to 12,500 enterprises, increasing 14.5% against previous year, with a total registered capital of 144 trillion dong, rising 19.5% year - on - year.
The city’s socialisation programme was as per Plan No 32/KH-UBND dated March 27, 2008 by the city’s People Committee. The city also issued nine detailed policies and mechanisms in many fields and gave investment certificates to 95 projects with a total registration investment capital of 11.4 trillion dong.
