More processors meet standards to export fish to U.S.
The recognition has been confirmed by the National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (Natiqad) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
FSIS agreed to add the firms to the list of processors that meet standards to export to the U.S. market as proposed by Natiqad following the country’s program to inspect Siluriformes fish, including pangasius.
Natiqad has called for the 12 pangasius processors to actively check their shipments bound for the U.S. to meet FISIS’s requirements.
Currently, four pangasius processors in Vietnam are waiting for FSIS’s recognition. Natiqad will discuss with FSIS to add them to the list soon.
Earlier, FSIS detected pangasius shipments of Tan Thanh Loi Co Ltd and Nam Song Hau Joint Stock Co containing banned antibiotics and sent a notice to Natiqad.
This will affect FSIS’s evaluation of Vietnamese pangasius processors waiting for its recognition from March 2016 to August 2017.
