Nam Chien hydropower plant project to be given more loan


The additional loan will follow the loan structure of the Vietnam Development Bank (VDB) and the deficient part of ODA (official development assistance) from India.

 

At the same time, to Nam Chien hydropower project being given added loan at VDB, the prime minister allowed Song Da Group and its subsidiaries to borrow the state investment credit source exceeding the allowable limitation against the real chartered capital of VDB.

 

The Nam Chien hydropower plant is built on the Chien Stream (a branch of A River), in Zone 2, in the communes of Ngoc Chien and Chieng Muong (Muong La District) in the northern mountainous province of Son La. It is about 35 km far from the Son La hydropower plant.

 

The project has a total investment of four trillion dong under the BO (Build-Operate) method.

 

The Nam Chien hydropower plant has the biggest arch main dam in Vietnam.

 

Nam Chien project including two turbines with total designed capacity of 200 MW is expected to provide 800 million kWh per year electricity and join the national grid.
