Son La plant’s final generator to operate soon
Speaking to the Daily, Pham Hong Phuong, deputy head of the Son La hydropower plant management unit, said after the sixth and last generator of the plant started operation, the contractors would complete the final stage of the project to inaugurate the entire plant in December this year.
Son La hydropower plant is developed on the Da River’s hydropower ladder by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN). The project was kicked off in 2006, consisting of six generators with a combined capacity of 2,400MW, and costing a total of VND42 trillion, or some $2 billion.
The first generator with an output of 400 MW was connected to the national power grid in late 2010. The following generators have come on stream since 2011, contributing to the country’s power supply stability.
