Thanh Hoa attracts investment from South Korea
Chairman of the provincial Peoples Committee Trinh Van Chien made the commitment at a conference in Thanh Hoa City on Tuesday to promote investment and trade with Korean businesses.
The province will continue improving its investment environment and infrastructure system, strengthening human resources training and developing support industry, he said.
At the conference, the Thanh Hoa Institute of Planning and Architecture and the Hong Duc Education Equipment Joint Stock Company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on investment and business activities with South Koreas Heerim Architects & Planners and Cloz Companies.
On the same day, the Thanh Hoa provincial Peoples Committee and authorities from Koreas Seongnam city also inked an MoU on co-operation. Under the deal, the two sides will boost co-operation in the fields of economics, ecology, culture, health, sports, education, tourism, technology and infrastructure.
In 2013, the South Korean city will send a delegation of planning experts to help Thanh Hoa build the Lam Son – Sao Vang Hi-tech Park in Tho Xuan District.
The two sides will speed up the signing of co-operation agreements between their small and medium-sized enterprises, universities and cultural and educational organisations.
Thanh Hoa ranks sixth in the country in attracting foreign direct investment with a total capital of $16 billion. At present, South Korea has eight foreign investment and three ODA projects in the province.
