VCB and VNM losses strike VN-Index

 

 
 
Turnover on the HCMC exchange inched down with 176.4 million shares worth over VND3 trillion changing hands, including VND243.7 billion in put-through transactions. Notably, SAM saw 5.8 million shares traded in bloc deals with a combined value of VND52.5 billion, followed by VIP with 1.36 million shares worth VND10.5 billion.
 
Among the top 10 stocks in terms of market cap, only ROS and HPG ended up. The market took the biggest hit from VNM and VCB which lost 0.8% against Wednesday at VND129,700 and VND36,900 a share respectively.
 
Meanwhile, HPG increased 2.7% at VND42,000 a share with matching volume of 7.9 million shares. According to tinnhanchungkhoan.vn, HPG has revised up its 2017 profit target from VND1 trillion to VND6 trillion due to good results in the first two months and positive signs of the steel market.
 
ROS extended its winning streak from the middle of December 2016, advancing 0.9% at VND151,400 each share. VJC hit the ceiling price for the third consecutive session at VND123,500 per share given high demand.
 
Among small caps, FLC was the most actively traded stock with volume of 42.8 million shares, followed by HQC with 12.6 million shares. However, the two stocks tumbled to near the lower limits due to strong selling pressure, closing at VND7,200 and VND2,600 a share.
 
The Hanoi market slightly outperformed its southern counterpart with ACB, DBC, LAS and petroleum stocks recovering in the last minutes. The HNX-Index inched down a mere 0.01% from the previous day at 86.61 as advancers and decliners were equal at 78 to 76.
 
Speculative stocks strongly attracted buyers, with KLF, DCS, SPI and ACM shooting up to their ceiling prices. KLF again took the lead by trading volume with nearly 8.7 million shares, followed by HKB and SHB with more than 3.5 million shares each.
 
Foreigners were active on the HCMC market, net buying 1.2 million shares worth VND124.6 billion after staying on the selling side in the previous session. They net purchased VND143 billion worth of HPG shares, followed by VJC with VND26.3 billion and KBC with VND15 billion.
 
On the other hand, they net sold VIC shares worth VND18.9 billion, BID shares worth VND13.7 billion and VCB shares worth VND12.9 billion.
 
On the northern bourse, the investors net sold nearly VND2.3 billion, focusing on SHB shares with net selling value of VND3.6 billion and VTV shares with VND2.5 billion.
