VNPT opens data centre in Ha Noi

Pham Long Tran, chairman of the board of directors of the Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), said the new centre provided multi-nationals, banks, financial institutions and large-scale businesses with a reliable information technology partner.

He said the expanding business of multinationals had sharply raised the need for local back-up facilities, such as data centres, to retain business continuity. At the same time, the increasing penetration of the internet in Viet Nam had intensified the demand for data centres as communication platforms for stable internet business.

According to officials of Global Data Service Jointstock Co (GDS) , the centre will provide a wide range of services, including server co-location, mail hosting and web hosting tailored to specific needs, enabling customers to streamline operations and reduce IT costs.

The centre, the first in Viet Nam to be designed and developed with advanced Japanese technology, will satisfy the needs of multinational companies by leveraging VNPT’s ample domestic network and the extensive, high-quality international network offered by NTT Com, a leading Japanese provider of telecom expertise.

The data centre is owned by the GDS and jointly financed by Japanese NTT Communications and the VNPT.
