A good opportunity to invest in Central Highlands
The regional forum offers a prime opportunity for Central Highland provinces to introduce their development potential and attract domestic and foreign investment.
Mai Van Nam, a member of the Party Central Committee and an official of the Steering Board for the Central Highlands, assessed the significance of the event in a short interview.
* Are there any differences between this forum and others held earlier by the individual provinces?
All five provinces in the region have close links in terms of economics, social affairs, security and national defence. This is the first time the Steering Board for the Central Highlands, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the five Central Highland provinces have jointly organised a forum to bring into full play the combined strength of the region to attract domestic and foreign investment.
* What will hosts and businesses do to satisfy each other?
It is true that the Central Highlands has great potential, but suffers from certain drawbacks. At the forum, businesses will explore regional potential, and at the same time perceive inherent weaknesses in mechanism for attracting investment capital. The Steering Board and Central Highland provinces will gather opinions and make proposals to the government and State to adopt special incentives for the region.
* Besides economic profit, what other benefits will businesses enjoy if they invest in the region?
With its strategic position in Vietnam, the Central Highlands has an important significance in terms of politics, social affairs and national interests. I can assure you that businesses will get plenty of benefits there and I really hope the region will attract both domestic and foreign investors.
