A great day for the Phu My Bridge and other new ventures
Asians consider ‘nine’ the luckiest of numbers. September 9, 2009 is even luckier than August 08, 2008. Several important events was launched in Vietnam yesterday.
At 9:09 am, the Phu My suspension bridge over the Saigon River officially opened to traffic. With its huge H-shaped columns (symboling HCM City), the Phu My bridge links districts 2 and 7. It is expected to ease mid-town traffic jams substantially.
Construction of the bridge started on February 22, 2007 with the total investment capital of 2,077 billion dong. It is 2,100 metres long and 27.5 metres wide.
At 09:09 and nine seconds, three online games, ‘BoomSpeed’, ‘Kiem The’ (‘Swashbuckler’) and ‘Doc Ba Giang Ho’ were launched by game developers.
The Middle Airports Services Joint Stock Company (MASCO) made its debut on the UpCom (market of public unlisted companies) yesterday, putting 1.669.115 shares on the market worth 16,691,150,000 dong in face value. Also September 9, 2009, HCM City authorities begin issuing bonds to raise funds for the Thu Thiem new urban area development.
Yesterday also was the opening day of Vietbuild 2009, a big construction industry exposition. Vietbuild 2009, September 9-13, is organized in the southern city of Can Tho.
It seems that foreigners are are also interested in organizing events on September 9, 2009.
