Construction begins on new southern power plant

The 750-megawatt Nhon Trach 2 Combine Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) is located about 35 kilometers southeast of Ho Chi Minh City.
The US$700-million power plant is slated to begin supplying an annual output of some 4.5 billions of kWh in 30 months.
Six companies have formed the Nhon Trach 2 Oil Electricity Joint Stock Company for the project.
Vietnam National Oil & Gas Group (Petrovietnam), is contributing 52 percent of the funding, while Electricity of Vietnam, Vietnam Post and Telecommunications and Bank for Industrial Development Vietnam are also part of the team.
