Binh Dinh: Venue for power complex construction planned
The Power Engineering Consulting Joint-Stock Company 4 under the Electricity of Viet Nam said the 250ha power complex in the Phu Cat District would be built in three phases. It would have three power plants with a total capacity of 5,200MW.
The power plants, each to be built in a phase, should be operational between 2016 and 21. Construction of the power stations will help supplement and replace large-scale combined gas-turbine power plants in the southern and central regions. The plant is part of the national power development plan for 2001-10 with a vision to 2020.
The power centre will use the latest and environmentally-friendly technologies and coal imported from Australia or Indonesia. It will need 12-14 million tonnes of coal annually. It will also use about 33,800 tonnes of diesel and fuel oil each year.
The centre will have a port with four wharves. Two will handle coal carriers up to 100,000 DWT while the others are for oil tankers up to 2,000DWT and general shipping up to 1,000DWT.
